This Paris-based 6 month internship starting in January 2025 is an exciting opportunity to intern with the Rothschild & Co’s European corporate private equity business. Rothschild & Co’s European corporate private equity business is comprised of 3 strategies: Five Arrows Principal Investments (FAPI), Five Arrows Long Term Fund (FALT) and Five Arrows Growth Capital (FAGC). FAPI manages c. €2.5 billion through its latest fund and is the flagship private equity / buy-out vehicle investing in mid-cap companies while FALT makes investments in larger companies for longer-term holding periods, and FAGC manages €450 million through growth investments and small-cap buy-outs. All three funds are focused on investments within Western Europe (with FALT additionally on North America and FAGC co-investing in the US with the US-based Five Arrows fund FAGP) and primarily invest in three main verticals: data & software, healthcare and technology-enabled business services.
The FAGC team, based in Paris and London, is currently deploying its first investment vehicle into fast-growing European SMEs. These enterprises have robust market positions and their business activity and business model allow to have a clear visibility on their operational and financial performance. FAGC has made its first investments in tech (Kpler, Padoa, KidsKonnect) and healthcare (BioPhorum) assets.
Responsibilities :
The FAGC Investment Analyst internship provides an insight into all aspects of direct investment in growth equity:
- Evaluating potential investment targets through primary and secondary research: organization of expert calls and presentation of opportunities by the intern to the team
- Understanding of the business model and competitive landscape of potential targets in line with FAGC’s investment strategy
- Financial analysis, valuation and modelling for both minority investments and LBOs
- Participating in the preparation of investment committees
- Portfolio monitoring (financial reporting, review of build-up opportunities etc.)
Qualifications and skills required :
- Strong interest in growth capital and the tech and healthcare sectors
- Strong analytical and summary skills, solid understanding of financial concepts (financial analysis, valuation, LBO operations and returns)
- Enthusiasm, curiosity, autonomy, rigour and team spirit
- Fluency in both French and English (working language of the team)
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and Powerpoint
- Previous experience in private equity, M&A, strategy consulting, corporate finance in healthcare or tech, or transaction services
